What is Med New Job?
Med New Job is an orientation and training programme to create a business in the nautical and blue economy sector. The aim is to build a governance model shared by the different stakeholders involved in the labour policies in the cross-border areas hit by the crisis, to boost production and employment in the sector.
It is open to unemployed Sardinian residents with a business idea pertaining to the blue economy and its aim is to improve their skills with a training course and a paid three-month placement in a company in the sector.

Build and develop interregional and cross-border collaboration among the most important stakeholders in the nautical and blue economy supply chain;

Share, integrate, develop and test specialised methodologies and innovative services of active labour policies to support the nautical and blue economy supply chain, foster integration in the job market and cross-border mobility.
The pilot project “Orientation and maritime reconversion”, organised by ASPAL in conjunction with Pole Emploi Corse and CIPNES Gallura, was launched in Sardinia. Its aim is to help relocate job seekers or people working in companies hit by the crisis by developing their entrepreneurial skills and helping them set up new businesses in the blue economy supply chain. The project phases are as follows:
- Training course in the diagnostic tool PerformanSe WeRentrapreneur for workers of self-employment services at employment offices in Sardinia. This tool is used to provide specialist guidance and define individual business profiles.
- 4 seminars for workers of self-employment services at employment offices in Sardinia and Pole Emploi in Corsica where they could learn, discuss and exchange experiences of relevant topics, in order to provide more effective advice about self-employment.
- Entrepreneurship orientation and training course with placements for 13 unemployed Sardinian residents who were chosen by Aspal following the public call.
- Profiling and individual orientation for participants using WeRentrepreneur.
- Training and individual coaching of participants.
- Job discovery phase with visits to companies in the nautical sector in northern Sardinia.
- A weekend of full immersion and pitch to enable participants to undergo a stress test on the business ideas developed during the training course.
- Job matching phase during which the participants worked in a company for a maximum of 3 months funded by Aspal.

European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Territorial Cooperation programme in Italy and France.
he following results were achieved in Sardinia:
- 17 employment office workers were trained to use the diagnostic tool PerformanSe WeRentrapreneur to offer specialist guidance and define individual business profiles;
- 45 employment office and Pole Emploi workers and 10 ASPAL officials were involved in four seminars;
- 80 stakeholders/businesses in the nautical sector were involved in the event “The blue economy: scenarios and challenges for the labour market”;
- 13 beneficiaries were selected and involved;
- 13 business plans were drawn up;
- 6 companies were involved in the job discovery phase;
- 13 placements were organised/will soon be organised.
To deal with the COVID emergency and make its projects more current, ASPAL drew up and implemented a series of services, which were introduced in the Sardinia Region through its employment offices, involving orientation and training to help relocate workers and set up new businesses. The pilot project «Orientation and maritime reconversion» was tested through three actions: 1. individual orientation courses to define personal and professional resources, focusing on the person’s skills and any educational needs that emerged; 2. training courses on self-entrepreneurship to help create/convert businesses in the sectors related to the blue economy; 3. seminars to learn, discuss and share experiences with partners on relevant topics in order to provide more effective advice about self-employment.
